China Interim Manager Renate H. Sattler

Business Sinologist, Kellogg-HKUST Executive MBA

Who am I?

I am Renate H. Sattler, née Renate Tietjen. For my clients, I act as a mediator between the Western and Asian business worlds and cultures in order to positively support joint economic success in the cooperation between American, European and Asian companies.

Thanks to my studies of Business Sinology at the University of Applied Sciences Bremen and my Kellogg-HKUST Executive MBA degree at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology as well as my 16 years of experience, living and working locally in China, and five more years in Singapore, I have always been the economic and cultural link between West and East.

Due to my more than 30 years of professional experience as a C-level manager for purchasing and sales as well as my rich intercultural experience, I am the expert at your side with regard to the individual characteristics of the country, people, economy and culture.

Where do I come from?

After graduating from high school, I initially decided to train as a wholesale and retail clerk in the Hanseatic city of Bremen. This was followed by my first professional positions as a sales assistant in various international markets and as a clerk in the automotive industry, as a full-time buyer in the mail order business and finally as an assistant in “Purchasing China and Europe”.

Inspired and motivated by friends and my parents, I later decided to study Business Sinology at Bremen University of Applied Sciences, which combined the Chinese language and culture with general business studies.

During the two mandatory semesters abroad in China and the preparation of my diploma thesis, I was given the opportunity to take on a management position in the oldest German-Chinese trading house in China, which sparked my great passion for this fascinating country and marked the beginning of a long career in Asia.

In addition to my professional challenges, I took on several voluntary tasks in China and Asia, which resulted in a large, active network in business and politics.
